Tribal Basketball is looking to expand our National Basketball League (NBL) entries for the 2026/27 season!
After a successful first season, we are excited to continue our journey to elevate basketball within our community. We are entering both girls' and boys' teams at the Under-14, Under-16, and Under-18 age groups.
What is the NBL?
The National Basketball League is a premier competition structure in England, encompassing senior and junior teams across the country. It offers a platform for players to showcase their skills, compete at higher levels, and gain invaluable experience. For more details about the NBL, visit Basketball England's official page:
Why Join Tribal Basketball's NBL Teams?
At Tribal Basketball, we’re not just building teams — we’re building a family.
-
A Family-Focused Culture:
We pride ourselves on creating a welcoming, supportive, and inclusive environment where every player, regardless of experience or background, is valued. We believe basketball is more than a game — it’s a space where young people can feel part of something bigger, develop friendships, and grow in confidence. -
Player Development First:
While we love to compete, winning isn’t everything — especially at this stage in a young athlete’s journey. Our focus is on long-term development, not short-term trophies. We give every player the opportunity to learn, improve, and enjoy the game. There will be plenty of time for “win at all costs” basketball as they grow older — right now, we’re here to nurture, inspire, and have fun. -
High-Quality Coaching:
Our experienced coaching team is committed to developing players’ technical skills, game understanding, and teamwork — in a positive, encouraging environment. -
Compete with Purpose:
Entering the NBL gives our players the chance to test themselves against the best, represent their community, and experience the thrill of national league basketball — all while being part of something truly special. -
Awesome Extras:
Tribal offers minibus travel to away fixtures and excellent facilities across both our home courts at Cathays High School and St David's College, with access to strength and conditioning facilities for players and even parents. We are also one of the only clubs that offers sessions throughout the entire summer, ensuring maximum opportunity for court time for our Tribal players.
Key Information for Parents and Players:
-
Match Schedules:
NBL matches take place on weekends. All games are held on either Saturday or Sunday, making it easier to plan around other commitments. -
Training Sessions:
Teams will have two training sessions per week. We are currently finalising the full schedule, which will be shared soon. Training times and venues will remain consistent for each team throughout the season. -
Player Commitment:
Joining an NBL team requires dedication to both training and matches. We encourage open communication to help balance academic responsibilities, other sporting commitments, and basketball effectively.
How to Get Involved:
We are actively seeking enthusiastic players to join our U14, U16, and U18 teams. Trials will take place over three weeks following the Easter holidays. Head over to our bookings page and select the team sessions menu.
